The Madrid giants forward Vinicius Jr has apologised to fans for his reaction when substituted in Sunday's fiery El Clasico victory.

He was substituted in the second half and displayed his frustration by walking immediately down the tunnel.

He subsequently came back to the dugout and, after his side's 2-1 win, tried to confront Barcelona's youngster Yamal during contentious after the game incidents.

"Now I want to apologise to all the Real Madrid fans for my behavior when I was taken off in the derby," the player shared on his account.

"In the same way as I have said in person during this morning's training, I would like to apologise again to my team-mates, the club, and the club president.

"Sometimes passion gets the better of me because I always want to succeed and support my club. My winning mentality stems from the passion I hold for this institution and all it symbolizes."

Vinicius signed for Madrid from his former club in 2018 for £38.7m and has notched triple figures in numerous matches.

But his career in the La Liga is unclear with rumors in recent months indicating that Los Blancos would contemplate letting the 25-year-old move on if they obtained a suitable offer.

When Vinicius was substituted on the match day, cameras from broadcaster the platform captured him saying: "It's always me! I'm exiting the club! It's better if I leave, I'm leaving."
