Chalobah Expected to Replace Marc Guehi in Three Lions Squad

Chelsea defender playing for England

The Chelsea star emulated his brother Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the twenty-first pair of siblings to be selected for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is likely to link up with the Three Lions selection to cover for injured Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is set to link up with the national side for England's final World Cup qualifying matches against Serbia and Albania, but it has not yet been confirmed.

The Three Lions have already secured qualification for the upcoming tournament.

Chalobah earned his maiden call-up under England manager Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then made his debut against the Senegalese team.

In September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unfortunate to be left out from the squad for qualifying games against Serbia and Andorra, and also didn't call him up for the next October international break.

Tuchel has been an key presence in Chalobah's development, having handed him his Chelsea debut in 2021.

Chalobah has appeared in all but four fixtures for Chelsea this season, with the side in third place in the English top flight, in the Carabao Cup last eight and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi sustained a foot problem in Crystal Palace's Conference League victory over the Dutch side in their last match.

There are likely to be additional additions to the team. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has confirmed that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) will be unavailable from the England setup.
